The Buzz: Sources claim the Xbox 360 Arcade will drop below the price of the Wii.

MCV has learned that Microsoft is planning to cut the cost of the Xbox 360 Arcade console later this month, with retail sources indicating the drop will be in the region of £30.

On source told MCV: "A few publishers have confirmed the news to us, and we're aware of some price movement is coming. The major chain retailers have all been told."

A £30 price cut to the Arcade would see the console readily available in stores for under the price of the Wii, somewhere in the neighbourhood of £170. It's not currently known if a price cut will be applied to all available Xbox 360 models.

Microsoft has declined to comment, but a further report on TechRadar.com indicates the price drop will be made on March 14, with the Arcade falling to £140, the Premium to £190 and Elite down to £240.
