PS3 sales continue to fall as MGS4 fever calms.

According to figures released by Media Create, for the week ending June 29, 2008 Xbox 360 hardware sales in Japan doubled over the previous week. The release of Gundam Operation Troy for the Xbox 360 helped Xbox 360 hardware sales jump from 2,555 units in the previous week to a more respectable 5,104 units.

Sales of the PS3 dropped for a second successive week, down from 20,336 to 17,973 units, although sales are remaining higher than the weekly totals prior to the release of MGS4.

The PSP is still ruling the roost with weekly sales of 58,861 units, followed by the DS (48,884) and Wii (48,480). The PS2, with sales of 7,673, is still able to fend of the increased challenge from the Xbox 360.

Software sales saw Derby Stallion at No.1 with first week sales of 148,000 units, ahead of Wii new release Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (137,000), DS new release Daigasso! Band Brothers DX (120,000) and PS2 new release Shinseki Evangelion Pachislot Vol. 12 (55,000).

Metal Gear Solid finds itself at No.7 with weekly sales of 34,000 units - sales to date stand at 566,000 units. Xbox 360 new release Gundam Operation Troy sold 28,000 units, enough to place at No.10.
