When Transport Tycoon was announced for mobile platforms earlier this week there was concern in some quarters that the management classic would opt for the increasingly popular free-to-play model. But this won't be the case, according to the game's creator Chris Sawyer.

"It's a paid title," Sawyer told Gamasutra. "The game doesn't suit the free-to-play revenue model, and I'm also not a great fan of the way free-to-play titles try to make money through in-game purchases or advertising."

Sawyer also said that fans of the PC original aren't likely to be angered by the decision to bring the franchise back on mobiles.

"I think many PC gamers will be glad to see a mobile version of the game they love," he said. "Why would there be a backlash? The game is very much true to the Tycoon label and hasn't been watered down whatsoever - it's probably the most complex game ever to be launched on mobile platforms."

He continued: "Hopefully PC gamers who also own an iOS or Android phone or tablet will embrace the new game as a revitalised version of the classic original."

Good! Chris Sawyer is a true game developer - he cares about the product and how it is played. A guy from the golden age of gaming when money was only there so you could make more awesome games - not for profit. I wish he was given the opportunity to do something massive like Sid Meier has. That would have been epic.
