EA has 'not abandoned the franchise'.

Patrick Soderlund, EA Games Europe VP, has confirmed that there is another Mirror's Edge project currently in the works, although wouldn't confirm whether it was a direct sequel or not.

"I loved Mirror's Edge and what we did with Mirror's Edge," Soderlund told GameStar

"We have not abandoned the franchise. And we are working on something – but I'm not willing to talk more about that."

It was revealed back in February that development on Mirror's Edge 2 has been stalled, but since then EA Games chief Frank Gibeau has revealed there are 'big ideas' in the works for the sequel, hinting that the game could use the Frostbite 2 engine when it returns.

It's unclear whether Mirror's Edge 2 is the game Soderlund was referring to, but it sounds more likely to be a side-project of sorts.

VideoGamer.com Analysis

You know what I'd like to see? A 2D Mirror's Edge, similar to the one on iPhone and iPad, for XBLA and PSN, with leaderboards and all that jazz. That'd be nice – and entirely feasible, too. Or just the sequel we've all been waiting on since 2008. Both, preferably.

I hope they make it longer unlike the last one which you could finish in an hour, and a bit more freedom would be nice as well, but only as long as they dont turn it into another 1st person shooter.
