In news that is likely to send an average gamer into a bad mood, and will push Zelda nuts over the edge, Nintendo has confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will now be released in 2006. The news was broken in a press release this morning which read:

"Our development team has decided to take extra time to add some incredible new elements to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. As a result, the game will now launch in 2006 globally. We recognize there may be some disappointed fans, however we firmly believe this additional time will result in a much more enjoyable gaming experience."

So, a release sometime in 2006 has been confirmed for all territories, but when in 2006 is anyone's guess. The press release went on to list a number of titles that GameCube owners can look forward to this year including Mario Smash Football, Battalion Wars, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Pokèmon XD: Gale of Darkness, but a list the size of an elephant on a 'Super Size Me' diet won't mask the disappointment of videogame fans across the world as they struggle to find a way to carry on this winter.
