Starcraft: Ghost News for Cube

It has been confirmed that Starcraft: Ghost has been cancelled on the GameCube, with Blizzard citing the lack of a viable online gaming service as the primary cause. The news was officially confirmed by Battle.net forum moderator MicahW who said: "In order to provide the game envisioned by the console team a set and readily available online solution was needed. Unfortunately the GameCube has no online service and since so much work is going in to the online portion, it would be additional work to release only part of the intended game."

The PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions of Starcraft: Ghost remain unaffected and are currently in development at Blizzard's Swingin' Ape Studios, after switching between several development studios. The Battle.net mod added that the cancellation of the GameCube version does not reflect an overall negative attitude towards Nintendo platforms and are open to future developments on Nintendo systems.

"[I]Nintendo systems certainly aren't something that we are against supporting. Blizzard in its entirety is based upon earlier games for Nintendo systems. The GameCube and Revolution will still be considered for future products, unfortunately Ghost will only be made available on the Xbox and PS2 at this time,[I]" said the mod.
