Sony E3 2010 Live Report
Move, Last Guardian, Killzone 3 and Maybe PSP2.
Want to know what Sony has in store for the PS3 and PSP? We'll be reporting live from the platform holder's E3 conference on Tuesday, June 15 at 8.00pm BST. Hopefully we'll get to see some new titles for PlayStation Move and some secret PS3 games. A new trailer for Last Guardian would be awesome, as would a reveal of the PSP2. We can live in hope.
We've got some technical problems but hopefully we'll still be able to bring you what's happening. Hopefully our wireless holds up.
Various Sony tech is on the big screens. Consoles, controllers and 3D glasses. No sign of a PSP2 yet though.
Starting very soon.
Hopefully we'll get some big announcements. With MS and Nintendo both missfiring at points, Sony could come out on top.
We're off with a video montage.
Jack Tretton is on stage. People clapping.
He's warning us that there's going to be a lot of action, but there's no need for Ponchos. Bit of a dig at MS there.
Sony has just passed 10 consecutive months of year on year growth.
Sees the future clearly in high definition 3D.
Kaz Hirai is now on stage. Sony is the undisupted leader in 3D.
Killzone 3 demo up next. One of the most anticipated 3D titles.
Creating Killzone 3 from the ground up with 3D in mind.
Going to demo two sections from the fourth level in the game.
As expected, it looks awesome. Enemy is flying aroud on a jetpack.
Now we're flying around ising the jetpack. Looks really cool.
The environment is hugely detailed. Easily one of the best looking games seen at E3 so far this year.
3D effect on the snow is really great.
The sense of depth is excellent.
Switched to part two. A gunner onboard a flying ship of some kind.
Trying to take down a drop ship. And that's it. Looks really, really good.
Available worldwide this february.
Move functionality for Killzone 3 at launch.
Kaz is back on stage now. Killzone will do for 3D games what Avatar did for 3D movies.
Big titles including MotorStorm Apocalypse, Killzone 3, Sly Collection and GT5 will be in 3D.
Mortal Kombat, Crysis 2, Shaun White snowboarding, Ghost Recon, Tron and NBA 2K11 all 3D.
The Fight, EyePet, Tumble and MLB The Show will support Move and 3D.
3D video now.
Montage of of 3D titles. MotorStorm, EyePet, MLB, The Fight, Killzone 3, tumble (looks like Jenga), Crysis 2, Mortal Kombat, Gran Turismo 5, Sly Collection.
Jack's back on stage now. Talking about life cycles now. Not a question of how long you can be relevent, but how many ways you can be relevent.
Peter Dille now. He's talking about Move.
PlayStation Eye Camera and Move controller gives unrivaled one to one tracking, he says.
Sony are using the word precision a lot. Must be the company's buzz word.
Montage video of developers talking about how great Move is. One to One mapping.
Games for the hardcore, and games for people that just want to dance in front of the TV.
Peter has said precision again.
And stressed the fact that Move has buttons. Precision again.
Another mention of precision. This is almost funny now.
Near 40 devs and partners working on Move products.
Going to show us some new games. Woooo.
The Workshop, working on Sorcery.
third-person action game that uses Move. Fidelity isn't possible with other motion controllers, he says.
Man has a wand in his hand, waving it around. The apprentice moves his arm in full one to one. flick the screen to shoot.
Have to say, the motion looks better than what we saw earlier from Zelda and Nintendo.
The ball on the end of the controller changed colour to show a potion was ready to drink. Turned him into a rat.
Whirlwind spell. Can steer the whirlwind with the controller.
Fire attack can be used on groups of enemies. And can draw a wall of fire.
He's reparing a broken bridge with a mending spell. Gives him access to a new area.
Sorcery is coming spring 2011. Looks quite good.
EA Sports' Andrew Wilson on stage now.
He's going to demo Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11.
Not sure if this counts as one of the new games we were promised, seeing as it's out very soon. First time we've seen Move support I guess.
Power is as important as direction of the swing. Can open and shut the club face.
He missed the ball the first time. One to one movement.
Not doing too well. He's hit into a bunker.
He's saved par. Not the most thrilling Move demo, but it seems to work quite well. Not sure if it's anything we haven't seen on Tiger using Motion+ though.
Will be added to Tiger 11 as a downloadable update on PSN.
New game. Heroes on the Move.
Nihlistic developing.
Ratchet, Jak, Sly Cooper, and three others.
Hard to tell exactly what kind of game Heroes is. Action.
Seems like an advert for Coke now. You can win Move stuff with Coke.
Internet favourite Kevin Butler is now on stage.
He's the man from funny PlayStation vidoes. He's already ripping into the Kinect show from the other night.
He loves gaming.
Move allows everyone on this spinning marble to get a taste of the "great PS3 sugar".
Kevin's got the crowd going.
Move will bridge the gap between core and casual.
Move will be avaialbe in Europe on September 15, 19 in US and October 21 in Japan.
Motion controller will cost $49,99, nav controller, $29.99. Sports champions, camera, and move controller for $99.99. That pack plus a PS3 for $399.99
Move titles from Sony will cost $39.99. New Time Crisis, SingStar Dance, EyePet, Ruse, Echochrome 2 and more coming.
Heavy Rain, Resi 5 and Tiger Woods all being updated with Move.
It's a Move montage video.
Sports Champions looks dodgy to me. Only the table tennis game looks any good.
I'm slow. Just realised why "I like to move it" is playing over this video.
Jack is now back on stage. Hopefully we'll get some big PS3 game announcements soon.
He's moving onto the PSP. Single best portable platform for gamers who are serious about games.
Kicking off a huge new campaign to support the PSP.
Kevin Butler video time. It features the kid from 30 Rock.
Industry's best portable gaming content, says Jack.
Wooo. God of War: Ghosts of Sparta. Teaser video.
Entirely CG sadly, but still one of the most promising PSP games.
Tron, Kingdom Hearts, Toy Story 3, Ace Cobmat, 3rd Birthday, UFC and Ghosts of Sparta, all coming to the PSP.
More than 70 new titles coming to PSP by December.
It's a montage video of games coming for PSP.
I know it's not 3D, but these games look better than Kid Icarus on 3DS to my eyes. Kingdom Hearts looks excellent.
Patapon 3 featured briefly in the video.
It's PlayStation Network now.
More than 50 million registered accounts. It's the most connected console on the market, says Jack.
The Tester season 2 casting starts now. US only presumably.
The PlayStation E3 booth has been replicated inside Home. Does anyone still use that?
LittleBigPlanet. ModNation Racers. Play Create Share games.
LittleBigPlanet 2 being demoed by Alex Evans from Media Molecule.
Massively expanding the Play, Create, Share features.
Now you can make any game you like. It's a true platform for games. RTS, shooter, Racing, etc.
Super Block Race is being demoed inside LBP2. It's a matching symbols game.
Crashy Crash next. Top down bumper cars type game. Knock opponents out of a ring.
Rocket Arena now. Four-player deathmatch type 2D gameplay. Certainly seems like you can do a lot with LBP2.
Montage video showing what the best creators managed to make in 24 hours. Someone has made a full RTS.
Jack's back. PS3 uses get the service others charge for, at now cost.
Has created a supscription package though, PlayStation Plus.
PSN users can expand and enhance their experience. Hundreds of dollar worth of value, including exclusive digital content. Full PSN games, to themes and minis. Discouts on the PS Store, access to early demos.
PS Plus will cost $49.99 for a year, starting later this month.
WipEout HD, Two PS minis, Rally cross on PSone and Infamous trial coming in the first month.
EA is being bigged up as a big partner for Sony.
John Schappert is going to reveal two titles with exclusive content for PS3.
Medal of Honor up first.
Revealing a new character.
Deuce is the new guy.
It's going to feature unlockable beards!!!
All new multiplayer map.
Diwagal Camp map. Very brown in this multiplayer video.
Limited Edition of Medal of Honor will be exclusive to PS3. will include a remastered HD version of Medal of Honor Frontline.
Steve Papoutsis demoing Dead Space 2 now. Picking up where the EA demo from last night left off.
My guess is Dead Space Extraction for Move as the exclusive for PS3 here, but we'll find out soon enough.
It's very Dead Space. Monsters, corridors, blood.
Dead Space 2 Limited Edition pack.
Snap, Dead Space Extraction included with Move sport. the pack is exclusive to PS3.
That should be Move support, sorry.
OMG. It's Valve. Employing the surprise.
Portal 2. It's Gabe Newell.
He's addressing how outspoken he's been about the current gen of games consoles. Thanks them for not punching him in the face.
Butler apparantly introduced himself as the VP of sharpening things.
Gabe does seem nervous. Portal 2 is coming to the PS3.
Steam will be part of the Portal 2 experience on PS3. Will be the best version of Portal 2 on any console, says Gabe.
Portal 2 video now.
Coming 2011 for PS3. That was a surprise.
Final Fantasy XIII has been called this gen's definitive RPG. Not sure about that.
Video of FF XIV now.
Mafia 2 will have exclusive day one content on PS3. Loads of new missions. Available for free for those who buy the PS3 game.
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood from Ubisoft will have an exclusive pack of missions on PS3. Multiplayer beta will be exclusive to PSN. This is all very MS from the last few years.
Montage time again, showcasing some of the biggest games coming to the PlayStation platform.
Socom 4, Killzone 3, Medal of Honor, Dead Space 2, Mafia 2, Madden 11, NBA 2K11, Tiger Woods 11, Sports Champions, The Fight, NCAA Football 11, EyePet, Start the Party, LBP2, The Shoot, Echochrome 2, Heroes on the Move, Gran Turismo 5, ModNation Racers, MotorStorm Apocalypse, True Crime: Hong kong, Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat, Castlevania Lords of Shadow, Dead Nation, Sorcery, DC Universe, Sly Collection, Tron, FF XIV, Spider-Man, Lego Potter, Crysis 2 and more.
GT5 now.
It's a trailer. Will there be a release date?
Lots of cars racing. Top Gear test track looks great.
Sebastien Vettel is in the trailer.
It's out November 2.
That's in North America and Latin America.
InFamous 2 up next.
Trailer for the game.
Looks good. Giant monster thing at the end.
One last surprise for us.
It's a trailer with a car.
It must be Tiwsted Metal
Talking about car combat games.
Sound of an ice cream van.
It's Twisted Metal
The Ice Cream can is now on the stage.
It's the biggest liar of all time, David Jaffe.
Swear he said he wasn't making this game.
Coming exclusively to PS3 in 2011. Same key developers that gave birth to the series.
Gameplay of the online team deathmatch mode.
Main Street is being trashed.
16 player online, and 4-player split-screen. can fly for the first time in the series.
Team weapons have been included.
New game mode, which is a take on objective based team play. Called Nuke.
Sweet Tooth Faction fighting the Dolls.
Goal of Nuke is to destroy your rival faction's statue.
Sweet Tooth and Dollface are each team's leaders.
Capture the leader and drag behind your car. Take to a missile launcher to charge it up. This can then be used to take out the statue. Guide it to the statue.
Three hits on the statue to win.
That's it. Solid Conference all round. Killzone 3 was the most graphically impressive, but was great to finally see Twisted Metal. Still not sold on Move.
We're off to the LA Convention Centre now. Bye.

E3 kinda sucked this year.
Microsoft took it hands down, but they too wasn't too impressive. The games was the best, but almost all of them were multiplats, and I quit counting Nintendo when gamecube died out.
1 day left....... I pray for some great games to be shown or I will bloat and die.
