Get all the news live from Cologne with Martin and Jamin.

Martin and Jamin team up once again to bring you all the announcements from EA's gamescom 2011 press conference. Expect big things from Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3, and maybe some new titles.

EA has one of the best line-ups of any publisher and is expected to have a great showing at gamescom. We're expecting new info on Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3 (perhaps multiplayer news) along with looks at SSX and more. Hear all the news here, live.

The following live report has now ended.

Guten tag from Cologne! Jamin here, and I'll be bringing you all the news announcements from this year's EA conference. Martin is currently sat to my right -- how you feeling Martin? "I'm on the precipice of despair", he says.

"I want to see Syndicate, Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, or both" he says.

So we've spent the majority of today sorting out our dongles (ha! dongles), and we've only managed to get it working on my netbook, which has a broken screen -- so do bear with us if things go pear shaped.

Roughly four minutes 'til things are supposed to start, but you know how these things are. All seats are taken. Chumps to my left are having to stand.

Fall Out Boy (Fallout Boy?) currently playing in here. I don't mind 'em, really. Alpha Dog is a great song. Spotify it now. Go on.

Martin is complaining about journalists who are taking pictures of the stage. "if I want to see the EA logo, I'll Google it." he says.

Just made sure to copy 'John Riccitiello' into a notepad doc so I don't have to worry about spelling it. Proper journalism, that.

Who's seen the new DMC trailer then? Pretty cool, eh?

Lights off now, prepare for a montage. "First game will be Battlefield" says Mr Gaston.

And here we go...

Phat bass. Fast drums. Explosions. This is what a good montage is all about. Old footage, though.

Jens Uwe Intat on stage; senior Vice President of EA Europe.

Gamescom is like the E3 of Europe, he says. But it's much bigger.

Fifa Street on the screen. "Own the streets" some dude says.

Gary Paterson and Andrew Wilson on stage. New Fifa Street in development at EA Canada in Vancouver. Out early next year.

This will be the first time game in the series to be developed by the EA Sports Football group. We're thinking it's just called 'Fifa Street', by the way.

UK, Rio and Amsterdam environments confirmed. New street ball control system, authentic skills moves and twice as many moves as Fifa 12.

That FIFA Club feature that was announced at E3? Yeah, you'll be able to use that with Fifa Street, too.

Here we go, trailer time.

There's lots of guys playing Football. In the street.

Early 2012, to reiterate.

Next up, Need For Speed: The Run. Remember when we saw that at E3? And they showed of the crappy rooftop jumping QTE nonsense? Yeah, let's hope they don't do that again this time around -- game is pretty decent from what I've played.

Jason DeLong, executive producer now on stage, explaining the premise of the game: racing from San Francisco to New York in a cross country race.

New level about to be demoed: Independance Pass.

So it's snowy, visibility is poor, and there's mortars (or something) being fired across the road. "It's a volatile sitation!" says DeLong.

Avalanches triggered at the side of the road -- Frostbite 2 engine lends some impressive particle effects.

Martin has noted there's little in the way of corners - one of his biggest problems with Hot Pursuit.

There's a slight Split/Second vibe to it all actually, what with all the obstacles and explosions and all that jazz. Out November 18.

Ah, here's Dr Ray Muzyka. He takes to the stage to a large round of applause.

Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes gets a trailer. It's a free-to-play PVP game. Up to 18 players.

The game is out in the autumn, and you can sign up for the beta today.

Old Republic up next. Bet Emily wishes she were here.

German cinematic playing now. No idea what just happened, as it was all in German. I don't speak German. I'm surprised Martin and I even managed to get here, really, conversing with our taxi driver was tough.

We're being shown the Eternity Vault now - the first operation in the game. Plays out with 8 - 16 players.

Just looked over at Martin's laptop screen as he typed the words 'God it looks boring as hell' in his notes. On screen, we're watching a team of Sith take on an android army of sorts.

Lots of dual-wielding lightsaber action being shown. Star Wars fans are all getting pretty aroused.

Dr Ray back on stage. It's Mass Effect 3 time!

First gameplay video for Mass Effect 3 Squad Leader now being shown.

Shepherd and co are going toe to toe with a mech. It pretty much kicked their ass.

SSX time. Been looking forward to this. Multiplayer / social side of the game is due to be revealed....

No lobbies, and no need for scheduling. Multiplayer is split into two categories: Explore and Global Events.

You'll be able to upload ghost footage of your runs, and your friends can then compete against you regardless of whether you're online or not.

Facebook and iPhone integration shown. Not quite sure how that side of it will work just yet.

Global events can have up to 100,000 riders competing at once. These events are on going, you can jump into which ever challenge you want. You can also customise your own events.

Rider Net also announced. This is the equivalent of Autolog. It's essentially a recommendation platform that tracks your progress and compares it against your friends. It's pretty much Autolog.

SSX is out in January. New trailer now being shown. I'm very aroused.

Nice trailer. One of my most anticipated games of next year, fer sho.

All the big dogs are in the front row, on the screen now. John Riccitiello and Peter Moore just sat there chilling.

Ken Rolston now on stage, having a chat about Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

Combat is an 'enemy pounding fun-fest' he says. Ha. He's dropping every game developer buzz word in the book. 'Immersive, expansive, addictive'. Hoping visceral and polished get some action.

10th February 2012 release date for Europe.

Rolston went down incredibly well. Funny chap.

Despite being a very generic looking fantasy title, I'm quite intrigued by it. Trailer has me fairly excited - going to hunt that down on the show floor tomorrow.

Ragnar Tornquist now on stage introducing The Secret World, a MMO based around the concept of conspiracy.

The game has no classes and no levels. A skill system allows players to tackle the game exactly how they want.

Beta sign-ups will begin August 26, with the game releasing in April 2012.

Andrew Wilson is back on the stage, with more Football talk. It's FIFA 12.

More than 1 billion games have been played on FIFA 11, apparently. That's a lot of football.

FIFA Ultimate Team will launch on the disc.

Three dates to remember: September 13th, demo. September 27th, North America, September 29th, Europe. Those with a season ticket will get it 3 days early.

Trailer time. FOOTBALL.

That thunderous bass can only mean one thing: Battlefield 3.

Patrick Soderlund, vice president and Karl Magnus Troedsson, General Manager at Dice on stage.

Co-op mode announced. I asked Martin if this excited him. He grimaced.

"It's co-op or nothing", he says.

Patrick and Karl are playing through a level together. Martin observes their 'awkward rehearsed play banter'. It is a bit wooden, to be honest.

The level being demoed is a fairly typical escort mission. Strange choice of level to show given how badly escort missions go down with gamers.

Still, it's not as boring as that single-player tank level they showed at E3. I struggled to keep my eyes open during that. YAWN.

Sniper rifle is looking impressive.

And that's that. The co-op mission will be available on the show floor, apparently.

Wonder if there are any surprises for the end of the conference? We'll soon find out.

New trailer for BF3 first. I do love that Inception-esque musical motif. Very cool.

Jet footage being shown. Air combat looks pretty damn impressive.

Looking forward to seeing that Mig on the show floor tomorrow.

Well, that seems to be it. No Syndicate, then.

Thoughts, Martin? "Pretty disappointed. They have an excellent line-up, but would have been nice to see something new"

Pretty much echoes my sentiments. SSX looked badass though.

Right, must be off. Thanks for reading, and look out for Neon and James' coverage of the Sony conference later on this evening.

Thanks again, cheerio, all!

Shame in the ME3 demo we didn't get to see the Engineer's drone or turret in action, but the new guns look meaty :0)

Wow! Battlefield 3 stole the conference for me personally. Ken Rolston is better than Peter Molyneux at selling his product. I want Kingdoms Of Amalur since it was announced. Roll on Feb 10th 2012!

Pretty disappointed with the Mass Effect 3 showing, tbh. But then quite excited to hear it's playable on the show floor.
