EA E3 2010 Live Report
Is EA going to reveal Criterion's Need for Speed? Find out live.
Electronic Arts is one of the biggest publishers in the world, and we'll be covering its E3 conference in full so you get all the info as soon as we do. It kicks off on Monday June 14 at 10pm BST and we expect plenty of big games to be revealed. A dead cert is Criterion's Need for Speed title, but we're hoping for news on a Mirror's Edge sequel too. Medal of Honor, The Sims, Dead Space 2 and more will also be covered, along with EA's line up of sports games.
Hello, from the Orpheum Theatre in Downtown LA!
Jamin Smith here, new kid at VideoGamer, and your host (or sorts) for the next little while
Things are due to get started in about 20 minutes or so, with any luck
I got given some 3D glasses on the way in. How exciting.
A few of you have been using the comments section already, but don't be shy to let us know what you're looking forward to
I also got given a rather nice note pad on the way in. Ah, the joys of being a game journalist...
I was hoping to get some pictures up for you, but the lighting in here is all dingy (atmospheric) so they won't show up all too well.
I'm personally keen to see some Dead Space 2. The first game really took me by surprise -- I love being scared
Lots of people posing with their 3D glasses on. I'd probably do the same if I wasn't sat here on my Jack Jones.
Apologies for the radio silence there, seemed to be having some technical difficulties. They always come at the best of times...
Anyway, we seem to be drawing near to the start now. Everybody seems to have taken their seats. Well, apart from those taking pictures of themselves in 3D glasses.
And yes, Thompo555, the music in here has been pretty awesome so far.
Why are so many people wearing their 3D glasses already? There's not even a camera to justify it.
I'll admit that I'm pretty excited about putting them on though.
Sorry guys, having serious internet related problems
Lights now off, things are starting!
Need For Speed on the screen...
Which side are you on? It asks
Police car chasing street racers through a woodland road
Oh, now a helicopter!

Graphics look impressive, nice and smooth
Road blocks are causing Matt some problems, but he's still out in front.
I'm typing in pitch black by the way, it's very hard...

John Riccitiello is now on stage
They're showing us ten games
It's Isaac Clarke time!
Steve Papoutsis has taken to the stage
"Will push the limits of terror and horror"
I'm scared already
Producer Jeff has picked up a controller, we're now in game...
Isaac is already in trouble, a huge spider like alien attempting to tear him limb from limb
Isaac's suit is far more organic this time around.
Strange alien baby things now jumping on Issac, tying to bite him or something.
The audio is just as haunting as ever...
I'm pretty sure that last alien had boobs...
Interface remains largely unchanged. Incredibly clutter free with the HUD mapped to the suit again.
We're now going outside, to the Scrawl (or Sprawl?) the game world that the sequel is set.
Lighting effects are nice. Very nice in fact.
Isaac is being shots to bits by a helicopter of sorts.
Demo over. Lots of whooping. Me included.
Out January 25th, 2011
Riccitiello back on stage.
Talking about the FPS genre.

Internet is misbehaving slightly, bear with me folks.
Now watching Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam trailer...
The expansion will be arriving winter this year.
Peter Moore, president of EA Sports is now on stage
He was welcomed with a huge cheer.
Speaking about MMA
It's a cage fighting title, for those (like me) who aren't familiar with it.
Lots of fighting styles promised.
Moore introduces EA Live Broadcast
Moores face just appeared on a fighter. Lots of laughing.
It brings YOU into the game, with real commentators and audiences seeing you in action
Looks pretty cool, lots of camera features shown there...
You create a fighter, you create a video, and you get noticed online by real viewers. Moore says you can become famous online through EA Live Broadcast.
In stores October 18th -- Now It's a Fight
Moved onto EA Sports active 2 -- the guy behind me let out a loud groan.

Moore has returned to the stage
Any Madden fans out there? Here we go with a trailer...
Talking about evolution
I'll admit I know very little about Madden games. But this promises to be simpler, quicker, and deeper.
Madden 11 introduces a new mechanic called 'Game Flow'
Joe Montana now on stage. The crowd has gone mental.
They're talking about positions and tactics and passes and runs. I have no idea what's going on here.
The game is now being played on screen.
The game is now being played on screen.
Internet problems are preventing me from regular updates - I do apologise guys!
Joe Montana has now left the stage, to a huge cheer
Moore has left now too.
Do we have freewill? Rod Humble of the Sims 3 team asks.
Play with life, the screen says
He ran experiments in game - made a town full of Rod Humbles
Two of them fell in love, apparently -- the crowd laughed.
Sims 3 gave the series freewill, according to Humble.
It's all very psychological. He's talking about brains and subconcious thoughts now.
Apparently Sims have more freewill than we do. Ha!
Trailer time.
Sims 3 will be heading to consoles this fall.
Wow, I'm becoming American - I mean Autumn
New EA partners - Imsomniac and Respawn Entertainment
Big cheers. Not surprisingly.
Oh, here we go. Crysis 2 time.
Cevat Yerli, founder and CEO of Crytek, now on stage.
Cevat Yerli, founder and CEO of Crytek, now on stage.
Double post. Sorry!
Crysis 2 brings the fight to New York.
Combines a sandbox with linear game design.
Demo now in progress.
Bit of turret action there.
A Metal Gear type enemy is casuing havoc in the station.
Our chappy in the nano suit is putting up a good fight.
He's rocking out with a rocket launcher now.
It does indeed look pretty.
If bullets, robots and violence could be described as pretty.
The character is staring up at the sky. Something is coming!
We're running out the station now, outside.
It really does look nice, to reiterate.
Demo over.
My 3D glasses are now on
Typing is impossible, I apologise.
Typing is impossible, I apologise.
Wow.
Ok, that was cool.
Cliffy B now on stage!
(no time for Crysis 2 impressions, apparently)
Bulletstorm time.
He really is dreamy, huh?
He likens playing Bulletstorm to a fat kid playing with cake.
2-22-11
That's when you can get hold of the game.
Talking now about the skillshot system - 'it does cool shit'
It rewards players for their skill in battle, not by how many kills they rack up
Demo time.
Envirnoment looks impressive.
My ears are taking a beating today, it's very loud.
"You scared the dick off me" a character screams
The script is very macho, very funny.
A guy just got kicked off a bridge. Awesome.
Gunplay is cool, but melee attacks seem to have real weight to them
"Where did this giant dick come from" says a comrade about a huge enemy that just appeared.
He literally just got his ass kicked. Literally.
Lots of blood.
I like blood.
Uh oh, problem with the left side of the projector.
Can only see half the screen now. Still looks good though.
Cliffy is much shorter in real life. He's left the stage now.
Huge fanfair - what's this?
It's The Old Republic!
Each player will get their own Star Ship! Awesome town!
It's a base of operations to explore the galaxy.
Talking about PVP - players will battle in warzones.
You pick a side - are you Jedi, or a Sith. Are you Empire, or the Republic?
Today, they present hope! Trailer time!
The trailer is set on Aldaron (sp?), which has been brought to it's knees by the Empire.
Large scale battle now taking place. Lots of guns and sabres and stuff.
Force powers too. Naturally.
Our Republic hero seems to have captured by the Sith.
Some hot jedi chick with a light sabre just showed up and saved his ass.
Oh, and it's a double ended light sabre. I'm in love with her.
She's now duelling with the sith dude.
The original hero has come back to help her. He detonated an explosion in the Sith dude's face.
The warzone is a smouldering wreck.
Our hero's face has been messed up by the explosion too. Poor guy.
Cut to space. And end.
Impressive.
Our main man John is back on stage.
Thanking the dev teams.
And that's it guys
Apologies again for all the technical difficulties. What with the internet going down, and typing in pitch black the whole time. This was quite a struggle.
Right, I'm off. Time to head to the Ubisoft conference!
