Microsoft has detailed the eight class specialisations found in Halo 4's multiplayer, revealing how each will change the way you play.

The UNSC Infinity - the largest starship in the UNSC fleet - is your gateway to the Halo Infinity Multiplayer experience in Halo 4 and serves as the centre of your Spartan career. Here you’ll build your custom Spartan-IV super soldier, and progress your multiplayer career across the brand-new episodic Spartan Ops campaign, and the multitude of competitive War Games modes.

Two Specialisations – Wetwork and Pioneer – will be available to all players when Halo 4 launches on 6 November. The remaining six Specialisations are available by pre-ordering the standard Halo 4 game exclusively at GAME and gamestation stores. Alternatively, all eight Specialisations are included in the Halo 4 Limited Edition. All Specialisations will gradually be made available to download through Xbox LIVE in the months following launch.

Wetworks users get protection against the wall-penetrating Promethean Vision Armour Ability. You'll still show up on the HUD of a player using it, but you'll be a slightly more inconspicuous outline rather than a big red blur. Also, you'll get a bit of sound dampening when you sprint.

I reckon as long as the specialisations and upgrades a 'out-there' enough to really individualise your choices it'll be fine. The impression I get from the COD system is that it's a real nickel & dime kind of upgrade system where each upgrade is only a minor improvement. What Halo needs are big, showy futuristic upgrades that really matter. The kind of upgrades that offer a visual cue so that when people see you coming they know what flavour of badass you are.

All the armour sets look too similar for my liking at the moment.

Spartan Ops? Class specialisations? All sounds very COD-ified when it doesn't need to be as Halo has always been capable of holding its own. Hope it doesn't lose its individuality and become generic shooter #343.

I have two things to say:
1) Like Endless said, the idea of pre order bonuses that allow you to have get access to more classes screams pay for power, which isn't the best of move on their part.
2)Less inportant this but hopefully the colour schemes are customisable for the armor...

I sure hope they're made gradually available at no extra cost. Not fond of a payd-to-play/win model. Smacks of Capcom all over again that does.

I have a modicum of faith though after Mass Effects class systems have been handled so well.
