Tom Orry, Editorial Director - Plague Inc, Android and iOS

While fighting tiredness on an evening train back from Paris on Sunday I decided I'd finally give Plague Inc a go. I was perhaps a little too dozy to get fully into what was happening, but if you think about what's going on it's really rather dark. While playing I hoped I wouldn't be asked what I was doing, as trying to sound like a normal member of society would be pretty difficult. "Yeah, I'm a virus whose aim is to wipe out the entire population by carefully planning where to attack first, how to mutate, and how best to infect others. That number that is rising at an alarming rate is the number of people who have died because of me. The higher the better."

I enjoyed myself.

I've always, for no real reason, had a soft spot for the Mario/Donkey Kong games. They've never been spectacular but in a world where puzzle titles aren't the force they once were I find it somewhat satisfying to play one that has love and care put into it.

Minis On The Move changes the format somewhat, but moaning about that just makes you part of the problem. If Nintendo had kept it the same you'd be shedding a single tear that innovation and creativity was dead. Go and play Pong, or something. Or check out our review.

I'm now earning 300 lollipops and 21 candies per second, which is pretty impressive stuff I'm sure you'll agree. I've got a level 10 sword and 650 HP, but I'm still not powerful enough to slay the dragon and take control of the castle. I'm sure with enough potions I could extinguish his flame, but I won't be satisfied unless I do it sans-magic. So, as it stands there's pretty much nothing more to do at this stage than to sit back and watch the candies roll in, levelling up my attributes until I'm so buff that Puff won't stand a chance.

Steve Burns, Reviews and Features Editor – Resident Evil 2, PS Vita

More Vita shenanigans this week, as FIFA was ousted in favour of, erm, Resident Evil 2. It might not be very scary anymore (apart from that bit where the Licker jumps through the two-way mirror), but *puts on wank hat* there's a delightful rhythm to the game's mixture of combat, exploration and puzzles *removes wank hat*. The scenario-swapping stuff is still ace. It's brilliant.

Go and buy it. And also get Resi 3, which is better. YES IT IS.

New stuff to check out

Fire Emblem: Awakening.

OH MY GOD AMAZING.

My current GoTY! You really grow attached to your characters and the team and if you screw up you know its your own fault and not the game being unfair.

THIS is how gaming should be.

Speaking of Curiosity, I decided to make a start on it today and one of my housemates is hooked. She has pretty much taken over my phone now. I think she's an addict.

Blood Dragon still. 2 trophies left and one of those I won't ever get, it seems.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Wii U and 3DS as well, now, and Lego City on both, too.

Man Curiosity is STILL going? Whatever it is in the center had better be good.

Anyways I've been playing Neverwinter pretty much non-stop for the most part, with sessions of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the 3DS before bed. Sad to report that the community in Neverwinter have gone downhill since it entered open beta, and is now filled with the standard WoWish affair. Still enjoying it though, and I'm looking forward to playing through all of the player-made content once I'm done with the main campaign.

Nothing to do with anything, but I'm watching Jamie Olivier cook on TV atm. Bloody love that guy - love how messy and happy he is when he cooks, how he cooks like a normal person. Damnit hungry now.

I've largely been too busy to play much, I had a quick dip into defiance again and every now and then I tap my way through a section of the cube in curiosity, other than that I haven't played much else.

I'm grinding my way through Defiance. Hello endgame. One of the joys of this is due to the work I put into my character along the way. When I want to destroy vehicles in open-world PvP I have maxed out vehicle skills, maxed out vehicle perks, and get to drive around smashing into other players. With no come back. It's like God-Mode sometimes, until of course I meet someone who has done the same thing, then it's down to skill and I regularly lose those encounters.

Players also got a quick look at a tentative list of the first of the DLC features this week. I'm hopeful they can implement most of it without breaking anything else along the way, which they've managed to do quite often so far with existing patches. But they're getting better at it.

I've also been battling the flu for the last few days, and a raging toothache for the week prior. Sudafen and Ibuprofen for the win. But mainly Defiance is to blame for my absence from the forums all the time, I'm now back to being a daily lurker instead of a regular poster.

But hey, I'm loving it. Games like this come around maybe once every 5 or so years and I'll be digging away at this rich vein of gameplay until it runs dry. No ETA on that, couple of years hopefully.

I've mostly been playing Phantasy Star Online 2 Yes in Japanese. And no it's not hampering my enjoyment, it's the PERFECT sequel imo. PSU was garbage, this is just brilliant PSO goodness :)
