There's no doubt that Heavy Rain on the PS3 is the first single-platform heavy hitter of 2010. The interactive crime thriller sets a new benchmark in video game storytelling, featuring a cast of highly believable characters. It is heavy on the quick time events, but don't let that put you off. This is a game all PS3 owners (and anyone still on the fence about the console) should pick up.
Also out this week is the latest instalment in the Total War series. Napoleon is story-driven, telling the rise and fall of Napoleon Bonaparte through three different campaigns. Developer Creative Assembly rarely puts a foot wrong and fans should lap up its latest creation. Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes on the DS offers strategy of the turn-based variety, and is the ideal game to play during your commute to and from work.

Worth a look
SEGA's All-Stars Racing may turn out to be amazing, but we've yet to get hold of the final game so are playing it safe. What we can say is that it looks to be perfect for die-hard SEGA fans, with a whole host of popular characters included. Echoshift, the PSP follow-up to the mind-bending puzzler Echochrome is also worth a punt, should your mind be in need of a workout.
