A look ahead to Friday's new releases.

Welcome to Heads-up, our weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down on the games you'll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Tuesday we'll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday's post. Time to splash the cash.

Worth a look

We're yet to get our hands on the final version of SEGA and Rebellion's AvP, but we're still hopeful it will deliver the goods for fans of the two sci-fi franchises. SOCOM has never been spectacular on the PSP, but Fireteam Bravo 3 appears to be another solid entry in the handheld series if you enjoyed outings 1 and 2.

More appealing to gamers in the know will be quirky RPG Half Minute Hero on the PSP and Ace Attorney: Miles Edgeworth Investigates on the DS. Half Minute Hero, in particular, looks to be something a bit different, with a retro visual style and unique 30-second objective mechanic.

Aliens vs Predator - Xbox 360, PS3 and PC
SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals: Fireteam Bravo 3 - PSP
Half Minute Hero - PSP
Ace Attorney: Miles Edgeworth Investigates - DS

And the rest…

Guitar Hero: Van Halen - Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii
Indianapolis 500 Evolution - Xbox 360
Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce - Xbox 360 and PS3
Karaoke Revolution - Wii and PS3
Family Party: Winter Fun - Wii
TNA Impact Cross the Line - PSP

Put it this way, a low scored review i read earlier said that the Predators are too stealthy.

Let that sink in for a moment.

Half Minute hero demo is brilliant. For the right price I may well pick up the game.

I'm not buying AvP, it really let itself down with the demo.
Ace Attorney looks like the best game there to me.

I'm still unsure on AvP too - the review scores have been extremely mixed on what I've read so far - ranging from 55 to 90 on metacritic, just don't know if I can be bothered to take the chance on it at £40.

I see the GH Van Halen has finally been released over here - another one I'll pick up when it's cheap - yet again this should've been DLC!
