Welcome to VideoGamer.com Plays, our weekly feature where we give you the inside track on what's been whirring in our disc drives this week. We'll be honest (so if we've been playing Superman on the N64 we'll tell you). But if we've been hammering the latest billion-selling blockbuster we'll let you know about that too.
Tom Orry, Editor - Quake Wars, Xbox 360 and PS3
I had plenty of fun with last year's PC release of Quake Wars, but I don't really feel at home playing multiplayer games on the PC. So, I was looking forward to the home console release of id Software and Splash Damage's team-based FPS. The disappointment could be felt in the room when the PS3 game loaded up. After an eight-minute install the game itself turned out to be a rather ugly port of the PC original. Pressure was on the Xbox 360 game then, and thankfully it delivered the goods. The 360 game looks significantly better, runs smoother and has a better interface for console gamers. I enjoyed it so much that the multi-map campaign matches whizzed by. Xbox 360 owners should certainly give the game a look. PS3 gamers will also find a lot to enjoy, but it's not nearly as nice to look at.
Wesley Yin-Poole, Deputy Editor - SoulCalibur 4, Xbox 360 and PS3
At Ubidays this week I got the chance to play a lot of games. Far Cry 2, Tom Clancy's HAWX, Tom Clancy's Endwar and Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway to name a few. But I was most excited about the prospect of getting some serious hands-on time with SoulCalibur 4, the sixth game in one of my favourite fighting series. My hands-on preview will be live on the site early next week, but what I will say now is I'm not sure if the addition of Yoda to the Xbox 360 version and Darth Vader to the PS3 version is anything more than a clever marketing ploy. Vader's too slow and has zero variation to his play, and Yoda simply feels cheap, given that he's so small that he automatically dodges horizontal attacks. You might say I shouldn't be surprised. Perhaps you're right. But somewhere in the back of my mind I harboured some hope that the two Star Wars icons would be more useful in game than Link, Spawn and Heihachi were across the various versions of Soul Calibur 2. Ah well. Kilik it is then.
Nick Peres, Video Producer - Planetarion, PC
This week I have been whining and dining at Ubidays, enjoying the entertainment of Vernon Kay and the art work of the Louvre, and also playing a few great looking games. Now back home I'm preparing myself to start playing Planetarion again for round 27. Unlike most rounds it's a free round this time, and it's a bloody good fun sci-fi game to enjoy, especially if you have some mates in the same galaxy. I haven't played it in some years. But I always like a freebie, and this will keep me busy for a few minutes of each day. Go and have a try and tell them I sent you, that way I might get a free account for life.
Simon Hunter, Associate Video Producer - GTA 4, Xbox 360
I'm not sure what I can say about GTA 4 that you haven't already read, or played for yourself - but know that I (like you) have become a minion to its powers. As Brucie would say: "this game is alpha". I think the real selling point for me is that there is now so much to do when you aren't doing missions - as opposed to 'chilling and killing' in previous titles. For example I have finished a mass spending spree in all of the city's clothes shops, and am currently working through the entire list of dates on the internet - I have yet to find the woman of my life, so I may soon be forced to arrange a date with HotTim.

Umm, Nick, isn't that an oxymoron? (With the emphasis on 'moron')
