Wii Virtual Console

Wii owners have two new Virtual Console releases this week, both from the NES. First up is Street Gangs from 1991. For 500 Wii Points you get to play this Streets of Rage-like brawler, following students Alex and Ryan across River City as they attempt to rescue Ryan's girlfriend. We think it's a little dated these days, but it will have some nostalgia value for fans.

Second on the new release list this week is the 1992 NES side-scroller Adventure Island. Again, the plot centres on the main character's girlfriend being captured (this must have been a regular occurrence in the early '90s). You'll have to venture through eight worlds in order to rescue her and pay 500 Wii points to do so.

And the winner of this week's DLC Royal Rumble is...

Xbox 360 Marketplace

With a strong full game in the shape of N+, trial versions of seven XNA games, stunning video footage of Ninja Gaiden 2 and free content for Gears of War 2, there can only be one winner this week: Xbox 360. No platform has any truly outstanding content this week, but the wealth of games to try on Xbox 360 (mainly thanks to the XNA) gives it the clear advantage.

Picking between the PS3 and Wii is tricky, with neither having anything that really stands out. We're giving the Wii the slight edge though as its two retro titles bring back fond memories of early '90s gaming.
