Wii Virtual Console

Thankfully for Wii owners we're back to two releases, rather than the measly one new Virtual Console release we've had to suffer for the last three weeks. But are they any good? Well, Eternal Champions was well received on its release for the Mega Drive, but it feels a little dated these days. It's kind of like Street Fighter mixed with the gore of Mortal Kombat, so if that sounds like your cup of tea, it's worth a look.
Phantasy Star II is an overhead Mega Drive RPG from the late 80s/early 90s that feels a little dated (and has already appeared on numerous collection packs over the years), but its turn-based combat system and strong heritage might still be enough to tempt some gamers to hand over the 800 Wii Points. We wouldn't call it a classic though.

And the winner of this week's DLC Royal Rumble is...
Xbox 360 Marketplace
Xbox LIVE Marketplace claims victory once again. Overall it's a much stronger week all round, but the wealth of quality content on XBL is impossible to ignore. The Wii's two mediocre Virtual Console offerings see it stuck in last place. The PS3 has a better week, with the excellent Riff Everyday Shooter being enough to give Sony's console the No.2 position, but it's the Xbox 360 that wins.
Three excellent Xbox Originals, a great demo for Frontlines, superb DLC for PGR4 and Overlord and a decent XBLA original in the shape of Commanders: Attack of the Genos. We're sounding like a stuck record, but will Xbox LIVE Marketplace ever be beaten?
