Top 10: Reasons why the PS3 doesn't need a price cut

I feel as if I am in a position to comment as I own all 3 systems, 360, wii, PS3

The xbox 360 gets the most use, and is on every night, the PS3 needs to have more good exclusive games, or at least give me a reason why I would choose the PS3 version of a multi-platform title, the 360 version will always have the better community and friend capabilities which is why I buy the 360 version most times. The nintendo wii I bought just collects dust and is IMO a gimmick that I stupidly bought into, no online functionality to write home about and poor graphics, albeit a fun experience for multi player, the cheapness of the console compared to others doesn't stack up as well when you factor the cost of the controllers £30 for the remote and £15 for the nunchuck, resulting in £135 for an additional 3 players, and thats not including the classic controllers (I have 2) at £15 each.

I only bought my PS3 2 weeks ago and its starting to gather dust, resistance is a poor game IMO trying to be halo and C.O.D without managing to be half as good as either, Haze does look good though. After I completed uncharted I have not really used the PS3 save for media streaming and the internet. The PS3 has alot to do to catch up to the 360, as the userbase of both are rather different. Blu-ray is a fantastic feature to have, but its not being utilised 100% yet, its still early for the PS3 and I stand by the fact that it will last longer than the 360,both from a hardware and software point of view (before you say, I have never had the RROD and its a launch console)

I do believe that the 360 is now starting to see its day, and the PS3 will slowly start to take over, if a price drop were to happen for the PS3 then this can only be a good thing both for Sony and for everyone else, sony can afford to lose cash due to hardware sales, they just need to release more games so they can make it up on the software sales.

And the comment on the first page about '60% of xbox360 users are trading the consoles in for PS3's' that guy is clearly a PS3 fanboy, i'm shocked noone shot him down before now.

What you don't get Gaul is that a load of the PS2 owners are migrating to Wii and 360.

The PS1 was an amazing console it did everything right. It catured a fan base. Thus the success of the PS2. Just like a good game a sequel will always sell more units as the hype around the original causes hysteria. Just look at the best selling release week media of all times HALO 3! That is a supreme achievement. i mean the PS2 has an installed base of 120 million. But a console with around 20 million Purchasers has the record of game sales. Whats more this is not only for Games. It has the highest relesae media of all times. Thus Audio or Movies are also included and the installed base of that is nearer billions.

Lets get back on topic. When asked should Sony cut their price? You say no? But the last month (March) the console slipped further behind in worldwide sales. (More PS2 users moving over lol this has to be the case as there were only 24 million XBOX consoles sold not all of those have moved over i am sure so there must be a new fan base)

April will prove a success for both console due to the release of GTA IV but with the extras 360 has to offer on the game (Probably meaning it was the preferd console to develop on) will people fork out the extra for a PS3 for this game or just buy a 360?

Why can't the PS3 have a price cut? Simple answer it does not sell enough software. Game equivalants such as COD4 prove this when 360 Unit sales were peaking 350k a weak PS3 was struggling for 35k. This means no turn over for Sony. Everybody knows consoles (Except The Wii) are sold at a loss. The markup on Games then compensates for this loss and will make profit. Just to let you know theres rumours around the net that both consoles are getting DLC! I dont think the game dev prefer the 360 seeing as the ps range is the Home and mother to all GTA games made, there just opening there market.

E.g Selling 300k copies when you could double that by releasing it multi format. Great profit! Good times!

And i think you will find the majority of ps2 owners are migrating to 360 because of the recent price cut................hmmm wait i thought the topic said "does the PS3 need a price cut"!? Seems like you should have a real good think about your next comment ;)

I think you'll find microsoft has an exclusive contract on DLC for GTA. You will find that the PS3 almost did not get GTA 4 at all. I am sure Video Gamer will back me up here. Microsoft were very close to getting a 1 year exclusivity deal and i think if the format out sells PS3 by a hefty margin on GTA 4 this may be the case for the next installment.

Razor i think you can't read my post before last explains why the PS3 should have a Price Cut. Its falling behind in sales even more due to the price cuts made to the 360. Thus to gain in the market share and sell more game units there needs to be more consoles out there. The best way to attract more sales is by dropping the console price. But the PS3 is selling at such a loss and the games sales are so weak that they cannot afford a price drop. Its simple marketing stratergy.

I know you love your PS3 and thats great. But I think you should know without the sales of PS2 and PSP then Sony Entertainmnt would have gone into administration this year as the PS3 lost the company millions upon millions. I hope Tom or a senior member of Video Gamer Staff backs me up on this comment as it is known and documented.

what is the 360 going to use as far as capacity? the ps3 use an upto 200gb theoretical BD disc.. preety soon sony is going to use its 50gb BD disc for the end of 08 .. And the only thing that got take2 to release GTA4 on the 360 was their financial situation as we speak EA is trying to take it over .. if it were around it wouldnt of been in the 360...period. another thing KARLIUS the ps3 outperforms the 360 in every aspect i can how MS lies to their customer, just like U buy into MAJOR NELSONS BS ... and is true what are those 360 gona do with an hdmi input HAHAHA .. MS is gona have opt for bluray if they are able to get licensing from sony hehe...its funny because to me the 360 aint worth buying theyl prob gona release a new one next year because it don't come even close to a 10yr life span......

I have no HD Drive attached to my 360 Idiot but i have learned from another member of this forum of the HVD and i think Blue Ray is as backward as DVD in its compatibility. Please read my Blue Ray Forum section.

I am on my second 360 but by no means is that because my day 1 console was broken. Oh no it is still going strong. I have an Elite. Sold my Premium to get some funds for another project with the intention of getting the best console out there at a later date. So i got the Elite. Idiot.

If Sony don't do something and do something now they will fall further and further behind. Game Sales are abysmal and they are not getting the following they should from the Sony fans.

Whats more before considering what new exclusives you have. Consider which exclusives you have already lost. GTA now aimed at 360 with its DLC and better network, Assassins Creed, Devil May Cry, Virtua Fighter, Beautiful Katamari dropped on PS3?, Fatal Inertia whats next? My prediction is it will keep MGS 4 as an exclusive but i am unsure of FF XIII I think we may see a release of this maybe 6 months or a year later on 360. Have you noticed that most of the games i have mentioned are japanesse developers too? Hmm.

I talk sense. Oh yer and the PS3 will never utilise a 200gb disk it is simply uneeded. By the time PS3 power is getting unleashed the next generation of consoles will be due.

F13 will use a 50gb disc! plus sony owns that IP "mate" ..... also take2 owns GTA4 not Rockstar! and by the way Theyre millions in debt......... HARD TO CODE FOR? What are u talking about? even devs from FARCRY 2 have been inpressed by the ps3 gooogle farcy2 ps3! ... where will be ur360 there? ... prb getting fixed from ur 3rd RROD, all these 360 games i can play on my PC! name one that i cant ... as for the ps3 games u cant play close to none... theres is no need for a 360 ..
