Wii

The Hanabai Festival returns to Wii Virtual Console this week, bringing unreleased games from Japan and the US to Europe. Two previously unreleased games are on offer: Spelunker and DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's DokiDoki Adventure. Spelunker is an action adventure game originally released in 1987 on the NES. Players will have to traverse dangerous uncharted cave systems, collecting valuable jewels and gold along the way. DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's DokiDoki Adventure is an action game originally released on the Super Nintendo. Equipped with only his bubble shooter you must rescue the kidnapped fairy Aeris.
That's all from the Hanabai Festival, but two more widely released games also make their way to the Virtual Console. Chase HQ was originally released on the Turbografx and sees you attempting to catch criminals through high-speed pursuits. Chase HQ is one of the most well-known arcade racers of our generation and, although extremely dated by today's standards, is worth a look for a trip into a bygone era.
Finally on Wii is the action RPG Ys Book I & II. This classic RPG originally released on the Turbografx sees you searching for the island of Esteria, gathering clues and battling monsters that lurk in caves and towers. Ys Book I & II were highly regarded on their original release so 800 Wii Points doesn't seem overly steep for a piece of gaming history. As with many Virtual Console releases, the games are rather dated when judged against today's RPGs, so don't expect the kind of production values you're used to.
Virtual Console
Spelunker: 600 Wii Points
DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's DokiDoki Adventure: 900 Wii Points
Chase H.Q.: 600 Wii Points
Ys Book I & II: 800 Wii Points
And the winner of this week's DLC Royal Rumble is...
Xbox 360 Marketplace
It's very tricky to pick a winner this week, with both the Wii and Xbox 360 offering plenty to get stuck into. The three XBLA titles aren't anything special, but you do get the option to demo them before buying. This brings the total demo count to seven, meaning hours of free gaming. Three of the four new Wii titles should be avoided, but RPG fans will definitely want to pick up Ys Book I & II. Simply because of the quantity of content - free and premium - the winner is Xbox 360 Marketplace.
