I reckon people shouldn't see this as GTA 4 but more like the transition between GTA 2 and GTA 3. It's the first of the next gen series. I think the guy who wrote the article was just expecting GTA SA in HD...which is just stupid. Now that they know what can be done and how to do, they can now expand. So maybe some of the insane stuff that we miss now will appear in what will hopefully be GTA 5 vice city. Until then, i really don't think we've been dealt a bad hand here. It is an amazaing game.
P.S. dunno how big ricky gervas is over in the US but in the UK, he's pretty darn popular and to see the shows of him and katt williams accurately replicated graphically for the comedy club...F-ING ACE!

and WTF have you not got to Algonquin? There's plenty of straight-a-ways to race down. get a faster car idiot.

But I do miss: the parachute, the planes, car customization, hair/body appearance, etc.

I think as gaming systems become more complicated, so will games. I like that you get flung out of cars or take massive damage when you T-Bone a car on a motorcycle at full speed. It's frustrating and funny at the same time. If I get angry at the game, I shut it off and find something else to do. I'll come back to it later, and I will do better.
I don't know what to make of all the complaining. Is it legitiment whining or is it just a lack of skill or is it an inability to adjust to something ,or complex. I guess it depends on the person. I was never one to go for 100% completion or anything like that. I'm more of a "Story Driven" kind of player. To this, I like the story. I like the charicter Nico Bellic. All the charicters are pretty cool, even if some of them are kind of annoying to me.
This game, like life, has it's ups and downs. I'm not going to tell Rockstar games that they ruined GTA. That's crap. It's crap because Rockstar MADE GTA into what it is. They decided to take it into a new direction. Some of you people don't like that direction, and that's fine, but, To make a claim like "Rockstar ruined GTA" is stupid and it makes you look like a bunch of whining crybabies.
You don't like GTA4. Fine, either deal with it and adjust to it.... or go and play San Andreas and lament on old times. One thing is for sure, the developers are taking notes to make the next CTA title even better. And when that GTA is released, it's s sure bet that someone WILL NOT like it. Why? Well, only they can tell you.

PS. my friend while i was wrighting this stood in the middle of a streen shoot up 2 or 3 cars blew them up shot a few people that couldn't run away fast enough and still no cops... hummm guess the cops must be getting donuts in the game. all well he must have come across the one time in this game that 3 cops don't show up right away.

I know they were trying to make a more realistic and serious-ish game.. But am i the only one that wants to fly those huge airplanes? They put them in, I feel like I should have the option. It's not .. non-realistic to fly airplanes .. :[

Let look at it?
1. Vigilantes (Cop Car)
2. Package Runs (Little jacob)
3. Car Races (Brucie)
4. Car Thefts (Brucie)
and these are only the ones I have found at 20% into the game?
There is so much to experience just for fun e.g. caberet, drink driving, dates, internet. I even just like sitting and watching the hilarious TV shows in my apartment or exploring the subway system. Sorry to the Boy form Croydon but you are not giving this a chance.
This game is way more detailed and full of fun stuff to do than the previous versions. I would suggest a good dose of open-mindedness and ability to accept change. Instead of creating a GTA with more guns and stuff they have actually made an experience that flows much better and plays way less frustratingly that previous incarnations and I have not even mentioned how fun the Multiplayer is.
The other night an Xbox Live friend and me took a chopper. I was driving and he was sniping from the back in an free game of the entire world. Heaps of fun!!!!!
The only gripe I might have is that their could have been more character customization in multiplayer. But thats a pretty small one. As for 10 out of 10?
Well If Halo 3 got a 9.5+ on most sights or COD4 got 9+ as well then this deserves something around a 10 because its is as good or better than those. I hear that once you have completed the main story it is only 60% finished. So there must be a lot of extra crap to do. Plus there will be those excellent downloadable adventures soon for XBOX! That will be something to look forward to. Its only looking up for GTA4. All I can say is "Shit Yeah!!!!"
