Welcome to Heads-up, VideoGamer.com's weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down on the games you'll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Tuesday we'll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday's post. Time to splash the cash.

Recommended: Red Faction Guerrilla - Xbox 360 and PS3
You'll be able to read our review tomorrow, but if you're waiting to see if it's worth pre-ordering, wait no more. THQ's Red Faction Guerrilla takes open-world games to a new destructive high, featuring the best demolition physics we've ever seen. With a single-player campaign that'll last you some time and some superb multiplayer game modes we reckon Guerrilla is the game of the week. If you own a PS3 or Xbox 360 and like the idea of blowing huge holes in buildings with remote charges, pre-order now.
Recommended: The Sims 3 - PC
After dabbling with a preview build and failing miserably our The Sims 3 review has been outsourced, but early reports suggest EA has once again done good. It's unlikely to appeal if you've never seen the point of the series, but with so much to do and a new graphics engine to drool over Sims fans are likely to be playing nothing else for months. This will also work on Macs, so all you trendy types can enjoy some virtual living too.
Also worth a look
Star Ocean: The Last Hope is typical hardcore JRPG stuff from Square Enix, but that's probably what fans wanted to hear. Our review is a way off yet (blame E3 and the length of the game), but we're pretty confident Xbox 360 owning RPG gamers won't be disappointed. More of a gamble is Fuel, the open-world racer from Codemasters. We've liked what we've seen each time we got hands-on during development, but early impressions from the final build haven't been promising. We've yet to play the retail release, so approach with caution.

I'm looking forward to the main game itself.

I feel slightly less passionate about FUEL since the early reviews have somewhat dampened enthusiasm, but I am still nonetheless going to eventually get it when funds allow.
Red Faction impressed me with its demo so that's my bit on the side for the summer. After I've robbed a couple of banks I'll of course pick up Star Ocean: Empty Wallet. I loved Star Ocean 3, so 4 will no doubt be equally life sapping and end up on the pile of other life sapping RPGs in my collection that I haven't even gotten around to starting yet.
