Capcom's latest shifts over 1.5 million units across 360 and PS3.
According to sales data published by the NPD Group, Capcom's Resident Evil 5 on Xbox 360 was the best-selling video game software in the US over March.
Capcom's highly rated sequel shifted an impressive 938,000 units on Xbox 360, while the PS3 version moved 585,000 units (charting at No.4). Nintendo's Pokemon Platinum charted at No.2 with 805,000 units and Microsoft's Halo Wars proved the strength of the brand, shifting 639,000 units. Killzone 2, which debuted in February, sold a further 296,000 units bringing its US total to around 620,000 units.
Elsewhere Wii Fit charted at No.5 with 541,000 units, MLB 09: The Show on PS3 shifted 305,000 units, Wii Play sold 281,000 units, Mario Kart Wii sold 278,000 units and MLB 2K9 on Xbox 360 charted at No.10 with 205,000 units.
There was no place in the Top 10 for Rockstar Games' GTA: Chinatown Wars which had been predicted to sell in the region of 200,000 to 450,000 units.
