The highly anticipated RPG is currently scheduled for a Japanese release this year.
According to Japanese news site IT Media (translated by Kotaku), Square Enix president Yoichi Wada has revealed the recently announced Dragon Quest IX delay could affect the release of Final Fantasy XIII.
Square Enix president Yoichi Wada commented: "The next term's schedule has been fixed yet. Presently, I cannot say what kind of effect we will experience from moving the Dragon Quest IX launch from March to July. I cannot say there won't be an effect."
Wada added: "There is a possibility that Dragon Quest IX delay could affect Final Fantasy XIII."
Earlier this week Square Enix announced that Dragon Quest IX, which had been scheduled for release in Japan on March 28, will now hit stores on July 11. The delay will allow the development team to fix "flaws" currently in the game.
