Launch week sales across Xbox 360, PS3 and PC outpaced those of CoD4 by more than 2 to 1.
Chart Track reports that Activision Blizzard has stormed the UK video game chart with strong first week sales of Call of Duty: World at War and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.
Call of Duty: World at War enters the All Formats All Prices chart at No.1 and becomes the UK's third fastest-selling video game of all time behind GTA 4 and GTA San Andreas. Call of Duty 4 was released in the same week during 2007 and also charted at No.1, but its sales can't match that of CoD: World at War. The latest instalment in the blockbuster franchise (only accounting for sales on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC) outsold its predecessor by over 2 to 1.
Wrath of the Lich King entered the All Formats All Prices chart at No.2 and became the fastest-selling PC title in the UK, beating a five year record held by Championship Manager 4. The Activision Blizzard domination doesn't end there, with Guitar Hero: World Tour shooting up the chart from No.17 to a new home at No.6.
SEGA's Football Manager 2009 debuts at No.3 and becomes SEGA's fastest-selling Football Manager title. Microsoft's Gears of War 2 slides to No.4 with a 64 per cent drop in sales and FIFA 09 slips to No.5.
New entries that failed to trouble the Top 10 include Wii Music at No.16 and Mirror's Edge at No.20. Sony's LittleBigPlanet also sees a huge drop in its second week, slipping from No.4 to No.19.
Next week look for strong new entries from Eidos' Tomb Raider: Underworld and Valve's Left 4 Dead.

Also need to factor in that whilst there are approximately 12 million PS3's out there, there are (approximately) 30 trillion Nintendo DS consoles which means any title released on the DS format will usually outstrip other titles released on a single format.
