The inevitable Assassin's Creed 3 could be set in World War II and feature a female assassin, Ubisoft has said.

Speaking to UK mag Xbox World 360 and reported by CVG, producer Sébastien Puel said Ubisoft has "had discussions" about the change.

When quizzed on the possibility of a female assassin, Puel replied: "We've had discussions on that very topic.

"It could be really interesting but we'd need to find the right time period and place for that.

"Where would that make sense? We don't want to just decide we want to change and have a female hero as the first inspiration is always the time period, but if you're talking about, say, World War II the economies in England and France were run by women because the men were off fighting.

"So maybe in this context you were a woman in England during WWII. Why not? Nothing prevents us from doing it."

The first two Assassin's Creed games star Desmond Miles, a bartender kidnapped for use as a test subject in the "Animus". The player controls Desmond's assassin ancestors during historical periods.

In the same report, creative director Patrice Fortier said that Ubisoft "could do 35" Assassin's Creed games.

The series was originally thought of as a trilogy.

"What's so great about Assassin's Creed is that we can just expand and expand," he said.

"I'm often asked if we're doing a third game after ACII... I mean, we could do 35 of these."

Assassin's Creed 2 is scheduled for release on November 20 for Xbox 360 and PS3. For the latest trailers, screens and previews, head over to our game page.

im not being sexist but i think assassins creed 3 should stay with a man. also the ww2 seting is not bad but u have to include double hidden blade and a sword coz that whats assassin creed is all about. but i would go for the 1600 spain or somthing like that

They will eventually make a world 2 and probably a world war 1 but if you notice where the series is going its taking place after every 300 hundred years or so. Thats why so many say french revoloution and may the american revoloutionary war. Just take it that there are so many historical events before world war 2 it will be a while before they make it i mean they cant miss american revoloution or civil war...Only ideas though.

female assassin set in WW2...sounds familiar.. 'Velvet assassin' comes to mind! another problem being is free running wouldnt work(cities not suitable), also wouldnt it completely flaw the point of AC2 if they continued going into the past, desmond is now a fully trained assassin and has been told what he needs to do to save the world! The only logic of going into WW2 would be to learn to use guns as an assassin (a necessary requirement in the modern world), in which case they might as well have an ancestor in the cold war or something more recent. Cant wait for AC3 either way!

Karlius is more than right on this.
Show Spoiler The only way this could be good would be is if you could stick a hidden blade in to Hitler's neck at the end of it and end the war, and then be "chewed out".

Personally i dont think you should make a game with a female assassin. I think you should just stick with the guy assassin's. I also think you should not make a ww2 game becuz there are already so many ww2 games out there.

Im thinking Lincoln assasination?? That would be a pretty good backdrop, would fit with the victorian era aswell. Maybe London and America??

The choice is endless.

I have thought along these lines before, although I admit it wasn't specifically about Assassins Creed.

The beauty of AC is that the stroy can stay pretty much the same, and only the backdrop need change. You can take any period in history more or less, as was implied by Patrice Fortier's comments.

Victorian London could be cool. An assassin roaming the streets around the same time as Jack The Ripper might add a nice twist.

Rome, 2000 years ago. Or ancient Greece.

1938 Berlin (with Nazi Germany being the backdrop, pre-WWII).

Late 18th Century France during the revolution.

So many possibilities.

At some point I believe they will need to do a modern day where desmond himself needs to do some assassinating.

Dinosaurs died out 65 million years before man showed his hairless face.

How about, say Victorian Britain? Or, the 1920's America, during prohibition? Have Desmond take advantage of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, or the Wall Street Crash or something.

You know what would be cool?

An FPS set during WWII. I'd buy it.

Or-or-or the guy who is actually is an assassin starts having strange 'memories', memories that haven't happened yet and could insinuate his reincarnation as another assassin in the future. Obviously the memories are going to be obscure because they haven't become a reality yet and these dreams can take so many paths because of the infinite futures that one can have so the first few levels are confusing until the player starts to take control and take the path they want and make their own story!!!!

Eh hem Copyrighting
