FIFA is too strong at the top

Despite sales dropping 44% over the previous week, FIFA World Cup Germany 2006 makes it three weeks at the top, with Tomb Raider unable to improve on second, itself also seeing a 44% drop in sales. A rise in PlayStation 2 sales of Championship Manager 2006, together with the release of the Xbox version see it catapult up the chart to No.3.

DS game sales continue to impress. Pokemon Link! Rises from No.36 to No.14, and joins Animal Crossing: Wild World (No.6) and Metroid Prime: Hunters (No.10) in the top twenty. Monster Hunter: Freedom on the PSP is this week's highest new entry, at a somewhat surprising No.17.

Next week a pair of movie tie-ins, The Da Vinci Code and X-Men: The Official Game will attempt to topple FIFA World Cup from the top spot. Expect to see X-Men make a real challenge, especially given that the game will arrive on six platforms. Also hoping to make a splash are Metal Gear Acid 2 on the PSP, the PS2 and Xbox FPS Urban Chaos, and Ubisoft's Heroes of Might & Magic V.
