Embark Studios regularly deliver weekly updates for The Finals. This has been consistent ever since the launch of Season 2 which introduced a new map, gadgets and gizmos, along with new weapons. However, The Finals is not getting a new regular update this week as expected, and Embark Studios has explained why.
The patch notes for update 2.5.0 gave a slight preview of what will happen with update 2.6.0 when it eventually arrives. Away from the preview shared by Embark, fans are desperate for the developer to fix an unbelievable bug that lets player trigger miners while spectating, and fans also desire a fix for an audio issue said to be worse than any other multiplayer game from Apex Legends to Call of Duty.
While fans are always eager for fixes and balance changes, the unfortunate news is that none are happening this week. The good news though is that Embark is planning something big.
Why The Finals is not getting a new update this week
The Finals developer, Embark Studios, has shared on the game’s official Discord that the game is not getting a regular update update this week. New patches typically release on Wednesday along with the store rotation.
Embark’s weekly store rotation is still happening, but we are not getting an update full of balance changes and fixes. This is because Embark are working to deliver an even larger patch that will deliver ‘something very cool’. Below is the explanation provided on Discord by Embark Dusty:
‘We are not releasing a regular update this week. Instead, we’re hunkering down to work on a larger content patch that will be included in the next week or two.
You’ll only see the regular store update this Wednesday along with the ongoing adjustments to anti-cheat and security. Something very cool is in the works, in addition to bug fixes and balancing the tweaks we mentioned last week, we will also roll out various changes to make ranked a better experience for all!’
As for what the ‘tweaks mentioned last week’ means, this is referring to the announced incoming nerfs that have massively divided fans online. Some fans have humorously begged Embark to stop killing the Light class, meanwhile, others believe the upcoming nerfs are necessary.
As for when the next update will come out, the explanation from Dusty says ‘in the next week or two’. Seeing as patches typically land on Wednesday, this could be either May 1st or May 8th.
