Ever since its launch, Palworld has been likened to Pokémon. This has been a good thing with people praising it as ‘Pokémon with guns,’ or in many cases it has been an excuse to chastise the game as nothing more than a blatant rip-off. The comparisons between both games are never-ending, and the Pocketpair CEO has perfectly responded to accusations that he is upset over Tencent cloning Palworld.

There is a lot for Palworld fans to anticipate for the very near future. Although the PvP Arena release window is not as early as originally slated, Pocketpair has announced a major summer update. Leaks have also uncovered the identities of many new pals and bosses that could possibly join the game.

While the future of Palworld is bright there’s also other games coming out in the same mold as it and Pokémon. Some have accused the Pocketpair CEO of being upset over a clone from Tencent, but he has perfectly responded to the accusations of hypocrisy by putting them down.

Palworld CEO refutes accusations of hypocrisy

Pocketpair CEO, Takuro Mizobe, has responded to accusations of hypocrisy on Twitter. On their urokuta_ja Twitter account, the Palworld boss responded to a tweet and headline from IGN that stated the following:

‘The CEO of Pocketpair has accused Chinese game companies of making Palworld clones, and said that their budgets are “10 times larger than Palworld’s.” Palworld itself has been accused of “ripping off” Pokémon.’

In response, Takuro Mizobe posted a reply in English that said ‘To “accuse” someone of something, means to say they are doing something wrong. I don’t think what Tencent is doing is wrong’. He further stated ‘I’m proud that other companies want to make games like Palworld. The industry historically innovates when we borrow ideas from games we love. I’m surprised that many high-quality mobile games are already in development’.

As for how the accusations originated, they stem from a tweet by the CEO talking about ‘Palworld clones’. This tweet was translated from Japanese and stated the following:

‘Tencent is already making a Palworld clone game! In China, various companies are simultaneously developing mobile clones of Palworld, and the budget scale is about 10 billion yen, 10 times that of Palworld… It looks like there will be a ton of Genshin-quality monster (or girl) breeding games released next year… Amazing times’.

It appears that the tone of Mizobe’s original tweet was mistaken, and his response to the accusations is perfect. The constant jibe of ripping off Pokémon has been a blunt hammer since day one to try to discredit Palworld’s success, but the game has been flourishing since release and should continue to with major updates planned for the rest of the year.
