Warner Bros. has announced LEGO The Lord of the Rings, the latest game in Traveller's Tales LEGO series due for release later this year.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings follows the story of all three Lord of the Rings films, letting gamers of all ages play as their favourite fellowship members, including Frodo the Hobbit, Aragorn the Ranger, Gandalf the Wizard, Legolas the Elf and Gimli.

Like this month's LEGO Batman 2, LEGO The Lord of the Rings will also feature full voice acting. It's not yet known whether the original cast members will return to reprise their roles, however.

"We are huge aficionados of The Lord of the Rings franchise and are incredibly excited to put our special LEGO family-friendly touch on this classic fantasy adventure," said Tom Stone, managing director, TT Games.

"We've taken what fans are familiar with and love about The Lord of the Rings films and combined it with the playful LEGO style, which makes the story and gameplay accessible to gamers of all ages."

The game is due for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii, DS, 3DS and PlayStation Vita in the autumn.

The next LEGO game, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, launches on June 22.

They lost me witht hte earlier Star Wars games so I didn't play anymore of the Lego games for fear that they wouldn't be entertaining or even enjoyable but once I got my hands on Lego Star Wars III I was hooked. It goes to show that Lego is getting a whole lot better with their games. I seriously can't wait for this game. My love for Lord of the Rings and my new found interest in the Lego games will have me counting the minutes until this game comes out.

I got Harry Potter Years 1-4 and it didnt grab me at all which was a shame. I won't be bothering with the other Harry Potter game either. I do like Pirates but I need to watch the third and the new one before I play it.

Lego Batman is a great game, I actually think it's one of the better titles.

I prefer playing them on my own getting stuck by another player going a different way to you on the earlier games or the weird split screen really puts me off co-op. The beauty of the games is the ageless appeal - they are great for kids but I think you need to be older and have a better understanding of the franchises for some of the humour to really pay off.

I just realised I've never actually bought a Lego game, I've always either tried demos or watched trailers or played somone else's game. It's not a situation I really want to rectify, to me it's a game where you need younger kids around who enjoy it to get the most out of it.

If anything, LEGO Batman is my favourite. I suppose the Harry Potter games are technically the best games, but every single one of them is more than worthy. I think it worth mentioning that they really only shine if you play with someone else, though, but at least whoever gets to be Robin isn't as limited and useless as you might fear. Can probably pick it up on that disc with PURE for about £5 by now?

I've only played the first Lego Star Wars and wasn't really blown away by it. I do, however, really like Batman and have been considering getting the Lego Batman game. Any suggestions, or feedback on the game? Worth getting? I heard it was one of the weaker Lego games and that put me off originally.

Lego Star Wars 3 is the weakest release mate - POTC is pretty good, but if you haven't done the Harry Potter ones yet then I fully recommend either of them.

LEGO games always seem to put a great big smile on your face. LEGO LOTR is day one for me. I am even thinking of getting LEGO Batman 2. I rather did enjoy the first one, but LEGO Indy 2 was fantastic!

Dunno whether to get LEGO Star Wars 3 or LEGO Pirates. Tried the demo for LEGO Pirates and I did like it. Not seen the latest film or properly the third, only parts of it. May need to get the box set to them before buying I suppose!

This has the potential to be the best Lego game EVER!!! and they've all been solid, well except Lego Star Wars 3.

I cannot tell you the number of times I've mailed Tt Games asking "When are you gonna make Lego LOTR?".

Like Ghost5, pre-ordered.
