GAME has become the first retailer in Europe to sell Nintendo eShop codes online and in store, the retailer has announced today.

The addition to GAME's offering will allow customers across Europe to purchase digital games for Wii U and 3DS. Make a purchase and you'll be issued codes via a till receipt or email (when buying online).

The game will be downloaded once entered into the eShop on the console.

Charlotte Knight, category director for GAME commented: "We're really excited about this partnership with Nintendo, as it makes it so much easier for gamers to access Nintendo digital content, not just in the UK but across Europe.

"We're thrilled to be able to offer brand new Nintendo Wii U and 3DS releases as digital download from day one of release, and that starts today with Fire Emblem Awakening on 3DS."

In addition, GAME is offering an extra 25 per cent trade-in value on selected game trade-ins against eShop purchases in store.

I'll keep giving them money as long as they keep taking my trade ins and doing some good offers. Not all GAME stores are bad.

Ah ok, I misunderstood the article. I thought it was something like you could pay game a certain amount of money and you could get a code for that amount of money there and then. Online or at the till.

I would of prefered that because, it annoys me that I can't just by £5 on the eshop (via a giftcard or the eshop itself). The minimum is £10 (£15 on a card) Which is fine for buying a game, but I want to buy some DLC for fire emblem which is on a discount £2.79. But I have £2.61 spare already on my 3DS and I don't want to spend another £10 for essentially 18p.

It's actual codes for the whole game. Nearly all are £39.99 though. While that includes new stuff like Fire Emblem, it also includes Pilot Wings 3DS and Star Fox, games that can be bought for half that price boxed.

They already do EShop credit.

I've also noticed that the prices are a lot lower for some of the codes online, but then you can't use trade in and get the 25% extra offer.
